La Dame de Pic • French food with a twist

On my birthday this year, we finally got a reservation at La Dame de Pic restaurant in the Raffles hotel and opted for the experience menu.

The Turbot from Brittany was one of the main fish courses which is said to be a favourite amongst locals especially with its light green broth but my favourite dish was the pigeon from Bresse as the meat was done so amazingly tender, it could pass off easily as a good juicy steak.

The entrees at La Dame de Pic are also worth mentioning during this fine dining session 👉 cold soup similar to gazpacho wrapped up in a savoury yuzu sphere, melting into an explosion of tastes when you pop it into your mouth.

Deep fried lotus root and Kuei Pai Tee filled with ceviche fish were super tasty french adaptations of our local snacks. While little pyramids of pasta stuffed with cheese fondue and served in thunder tea soup, bergamot, watercress and ginger combined the tastes of both east and west in a bowl.

The end off the entire meal, the different sweet palate cleansers and desserts were revealed beautifully. Picodon Cheese with Kalamata Olives go together perfectly and even for non goat cheese lovers, the dessert was so balanced that there were no complains on the goat cheese scent being overpowering.

Lastly, the White Mille-feuille, La Dame de Pic’s signature dessert shaped in form of a cube, you have to crack it open to enjoy the dessert. The ingredients consisting of jasmine jelly, vanilla cream and a hint of spice, this was an interesting dessert that hid many layers inside the cube and we definitely took awhile to figure out how to eat this but it was undoubtedly delicious!

The total damage for the entire meal came up to 300 dollars per person excluding alcohol but was worth every penny of the experience given the artistry of plating and balance of flavours for every dish. If you’re aiming to bringing your loved ones out for a special occasion, La Dame de Pic definitely is within the list of top 5 romantic locations in Singapore and its French fine dining adapted to local cuisines is a unique twist.
